Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Shingen Takeda (ranked 2277 p4p, 2365 weight class) and Christ Benoit (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Takeda comes to the cage accompanied by Now We Are Free. The crowd seem to be enjoying Benoit's choice of entrance music: Amazing Grace. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

and Takeda counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Benoit enables Takeda to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Benoit manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Benoit is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Takeda presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Takeda has Benoit pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Takeda pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Benoit tumbling to the mat - Takeda dives into Benoit's guard.
Benoit is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Takeda stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Benoit swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Benoit uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Benoit throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

That was a close round but I would say that Shingen Takeda will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

It looks like Takeda has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him.

Takeda lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

I would just about give that final round to Christ Benoit.
Well Benoit has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
