The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Pancake dives in for a single leg takedown but Fontaine sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the ropes. Pancake has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Fontaine avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Pancake drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Fontaine gets the underhooks and prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tobias Pancake. That's going to take a lot out of him. Pancake is trying to pull guard but Fontaine has him pressed against the ropes. Pancake jumps guard but Fontaine stands there with Pancake around his waist. Pancake gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Fontaine is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Pancake tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat.
