The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bapp shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Johnson as he jumps to the side. Johnson tries to bum rush Bapp with a series of wild strikes but Bapp uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Johnson doesn't manage to clinch there - Bapp circles away.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Bapp. Johnson displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Bapp. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sob Bapp. That's going to take a lot out of him. Bapp avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Johnson manages to escape and get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Johnson looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Bapp has picked Johnson up and slammed him! Johnson can't keep hold of the triangle and Bapp manages to pass to side control! Johnson is letting Bapp control him for a moment. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Johnson wants to get back to his feet but Bapp drags him back down. Bapp controlling the position from side mount. Johnson wants to get back to his feet. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Bapp decides to stand back up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That could mean trouble for Johnson! Bapp misses with a head shot. Johnson is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Sob Bapp overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Bapp working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Bapp tries to control but Johnson wriggling away. Bapp controlling from mount. Johnson is wriggling around trying to escape.

Sob Bapp dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Sob Bapp's cut. That's time! Bapp's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Bapp fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Johnson avoids it really well and circles away. Bapp tries to score a power double leg takedown but Johnson sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Bapp somewhat. Johnson tries to clinch but fails miserably and Bapp counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Bapp trying to control but Johnson is working from the bottom. Bapp looking to pass the guard. Johnson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Bapp's guard. Johnson has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Bapp is proving hard to escape from. Bapp on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Bapp tries to get out of the position. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Johnson loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Johnson throwing strikes but missing.

Johnson is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Bapp is controlling him. Bapp is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Johnson keeping moving, preventing Bapp from controlling successfully.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Johnson pushes Bapp off and gets back to his feet.

Johnson leaves Bapp with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Marc Johnson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Bapp is defended easily by Johnson.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Johnson drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Bapp working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Johnson. Johnson throwing strikes but missing. Johnson throwing strikes from guard but Bapp blocks nicely. Johnson wants to stand but Bapp has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Johnson working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Johnson preventing the sweep. Johnson is working Bapp over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Johnson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Johnson in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Bapp will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Johnson has managed to clinch.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Sob Bapp. I think Bapp has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

It looks like Super Nova has been cut. Nova shoots in and bounces Telver off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Nova preventing the sweep.
