Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Clark Zapata (ranked 25092 p4p, 3832 weight class) and Ilay Barzilay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zapata comes to the cage accompanied by Alab ng Puso. Clark Zapata has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 2 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Clark Zapata! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ilay Barzilay! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Tiny Johnson and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Zapata throws a one two combo.
Barzilay moves into range and clinches up with Zapata. Zapata breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Zapata moves into the clinch successfully.
Zapata fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Barzilay pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Zapata changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Barzilay tries to avoid it but Zapata manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Barzilay to the ground. Barzilay escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Zapata lands a really nice looking cross but Barzilay seems unphased.
Barzilay changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Zapata looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Zapata knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Barzilay on the ground. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Zapata tries to escape but Barzilay is in control. You can see the frustration on Zapata's face as Barzilay controls the position. Barzilay's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Barzilay working the head and body with strikes. Zapata wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land. Zapata pushes Barzilay away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Barzilay gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Zapata taking a bit of punishment here - Barzilay scoring with strikes. Barzilay is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Zapata is trying to improve his position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Barzilay is working Zapata over with some ground and pound from side control. Barzilay is staying tight to Zapata's torso, preventing him from escaping. Zapata is pushing Barzilay's head away, looking to escape. Barzilay manages to hold on to the position though. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Barzilay landing strikes. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Barzilay stands up and beckons Zapata to his feet. Zapata clinches. Barzilay breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Zapata tries to clinch but Barzilay moves out of range. Barzilay avoids a punch combination nicely.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Barzilay shoots in and gets a takedown into Zapata's guard. Zapata is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Barzilay presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Zapata jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Barzilay walks away with a smile on his face. Zapata gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Zapata shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Barzilay defends it nicely. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Clark Zapata. That's going to take a lot out of him. Zapata is breathing heavily. Barzilay gets in close and instigates a clinch. Barzilay drags the fight down to the ground.
Zapata tries to free his leg and advance position but Barzilay is retaining full guard. Barzilay manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Zapata manages to get himself to full guard.
Barzilay has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Barzilay drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Barzilay seems to have locked his on tight now - Zapata screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Barzilay, as he picks up the win!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kneebar). Ilay Barzilay! After winning the bout, Ilay Barzilay thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility. Clark Zapata was interviewed post fight and said 'I will learn from this.'.
