Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 19 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Tommi Ritola!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chris Tosanesti!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Anni Minnemäki and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ritola lands a jab to the head.
We've been told by Ritola's head coaches at Ruttos gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Tosanesti swings and misses with a hook to the body.
It looked like Ritola was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Tosanesti.
Tosanesti misses with a takedown attempt - Ritola sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Tosanesti scores with a head kick. Ritola tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
It looks like Tommi Ritola has been cut.
Tosanesti dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Tosanesti shoots in looking for a takedown. Ritola tries to sprawl out of it but Tosanesti keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Ritola manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Ritola swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Tommi Ritola has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chris Tosanesti.

Tosanesti darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ritola keeps control of the position for the meantime.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ritola is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Tosanesti jumps into side control!
Ritola is looking to regain half guard here but Tosanesti keeps moving and retains side control.
Tosanesti is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Ritola will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Tosanesti postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Ritola knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Tosanesti on the ground.
A lull in the action here as Tosanesti stalls from top position.
Ritola is not content to let Tosanesti control the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Tosanesti happy to just control the position for now.
Tosanesti misses with the ground and pound.
Tosanesti throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Ritola can't do much from the bottom here.
Tosanesti has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Tosanesti is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Ritola knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Tosanesti works to advance to full mount. Ritola defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Tosanesti is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Ritola is surviving well by controlling Tosanesti's body position as best he can.
Ritola is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Ritola is bucking up trying to escape but Tosanesti cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Tosanesti tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Tosanesti looking for a guillotine from mount but Ritola is having none of it.

My spies in Vancouver Island Fight Club inform me that Tosanesti has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Tosanesti pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Tosanesti lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Ritola hang on?

Tosanesti has isolated one of Ritola's arms. Ritola looking to fight him off but Tosanesti twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
