Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 19 - 20 - 0, fighting out of London, Brendon Carrillo-Moreno! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 13 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bryant Davis! The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Andrew Berry and Paul Tew.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carrillo-Moreno uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Davis. Carrillo-Moreno bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Carrillo-Moreno tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Carrillo-Moreno has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Carrillo-Moreno working away. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Davis tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Carrillo-Moreno wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Carrillo-Moreno is trying to get an arm triangle but Davis is defending well. Davis can't do much from the bottom here. Carrillo-Moreno controls the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Davis is positioning himself to get back to half guard. You can see the frustration on Davis's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Davis holds on to Carrillo-Moreno's head and controls the position momentarily. Carrillo-Moreno wants to control but Davis is keeping him busy. Carrillo-Moreno working away. Davis tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Carrillo-Moreno easily slips into full mount! Carrillo-Moreno avoids the attempt from Davis to control. Carrillo-Moreno jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Davis manages to avoid the submission attempt. Davis is looking to regain half guard here but Carrillo-Moreno keeps moving and retains side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Davis is trying to control Carrillo-Moreno's posture but Carrillo-Moreno avoids it. Carrillo-Moreno is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Davis has escaped the position, nice work there. Davis is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Carrillo-Moreno is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Davis has managed to free his arm - good work. Davis controlling the position for now. Davis is trying to get back to full guard. Davis makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Davis. Davis pulls Carrillo-Moreno in close to his closed guard and prevents Carrillo-Moreno from doing any damage or advancing position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Carrillo-Moreno trying to control the position from guard on top but Davis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Carrillo-Moreno has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Davis bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Carrillo-Moreno's guard.
Carrillo-Moreno had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Davis defends it easily. Davis stopping the sweep attempt from Carrillo-Moreno. Carrillo-Moreno is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Davis sitting in guard here, content to control. Davis is continuing to stall. Davis trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Carrillo-Moreno tries to land a sweep but no joy. Davis engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Davis trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Davis controls from within his opponent's guard.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Davis stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Davis wants it to stay on the feet. Davis misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Carrillo-Moreno.
Carrillo-Moreno misses with a two punch combination.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Brendon Carrillo-Moreno will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Crunch! Davis slams his shin into Carrillo-Moreno's torso. Carrillo-Moreno on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Davis looks to land a body kick but Carrillo-Moreno moved away. Davis throws a nice outside leg kick. Carrillo-Moreno shoots in looking for a takedown but Davis manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Carrillo-Moreno's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Davis flicks out a counter leg kick but Carrillo-Moreno steps away. Carrillo-Moreno fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Davis scores with a sloppy right hand. Carrillo-Moreno should have avoided that one. Davis dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Carrillo-Moreno. That did some damage! Davis misses with a wild body shot. Nice body kick there by Davis. Davis lands a jab to Carrillo-Moreno's midsection. Carrillo-Moreno shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Carrillo-Moreno ducks right into an uppercut from Davis. Both fighters circling a little - Davis finishes the exchange with a kick to the body. That kick from Davis tenderised Carrillo-Moreno's leg. Carrillo-Moreno is trying to keep his angry face on. Davis scores with a jab to the head.
Carrillo-Moreno is rocked! Carrillo-Moreno misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Davis ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Davis clinches.
That's one minute gone in the round. Davis slows down the pace here.
Davis has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Carrillo-Moreno's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Davis digs a right hand underneath Carrillo-Moreno's ribcage. Carrillo-Moreno let out a lung full of air as it connected. Davis gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Carrillo-Moreno.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brendon Carrillo-Moreno. That's going to take a lot out of him. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Davis lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. A shot in the inside from Davis. Davis digs a right hand into Carrillo-Moreno's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Carrillo-Moreno's gas tank. Davis is pressed up against the cage. Carrillo-Moreno has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Davis down to the mat. Davis avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Carrillo-Moreno scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Davis manages to escape and get back to his feet! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Carrillo-Moreno crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Davis - the referee stops the clock and Carrillo-Moreno gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Davis. Carrillo-Moreno manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. A kick lands to the mid section there for Davis. Davis thuds his right hand into Carrillo-Moreno's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Davis, as that shot connected.
Davis fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Carrillo-Moreno has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Davis thows a left - swing and a miss! Davis connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Carrillo-Moreno's hands. Oh Carrillo-Moreno is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Davis with a nice calf kick. Carrillo-Moreno looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Davis moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Carrillo-Moreno seems to have got his legs back now. Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Davis. Carrillo-Moreno shrugs it off though. Carrillo-Moreno needs to keep his hands up - Davis had a free shot at his head there. Carrillo-Moreno will be looking to protect his midsection after taking some solid kicks to the body. Davis fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Bryant Davis seems to be getting the better of the standup. Carrillo-Moreno changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Davis tries to avoid it but Carrillo-Moreno manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Davis to the ground. Davis escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Davis throws a nice outside leg kick. Davis fakes the leg kick and cracks Carrillo-Moreno in the body. Carrillo-Moreno shoots in looking for a takedown but Davis manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Carrillo-Moreno's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Davis throws a quick inside leg kick. Davis circles to his right before unloading a perfect head kick! Carrillo-Moreno drops to the canvas, hurt badly! Davis follows Carrillo-Moreno to the ground and unloads with a series of strikes that force the referee to step in and end the fight! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:44 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Bryant Davis! After the fight, Bryant Davis was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
