 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mcdonald slaps away a takedown attempt from Dennie, before circling back to the center of the mat. Dennie avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Dennie shoots in but no luck this time. Mcdonald is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own. Dennie has a takedown stuffed. Ruffy swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Penn throws out a powerful jab. A big right from Penn misses.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Ruffy lands a jab to Penn's midsection. Penn misses with a lunging right hand
and Ruffy counters with a right hand to the body. Ruffy works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Penn walks straight into a right hand from Ruffy - that's dropped him! Ruffy jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Penn from any more punishment! Penn complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
