Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Omar Afzal! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Biboy Rivera! The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Micheangelo Fripello and Josh West.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Afzal looking to score a takedown here. Rivera is defending well but Afzal drives through and ends up in Rivera's guard. Rivera controls Afzal momentarily but Afzal frees himself. Afzal has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. Afzal preventing the sweep. Afzal forces his way into half guard. Rivera is trying to maintain the position but Afzal is very close to passing his half guard.

Afzal is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Rivera has managed to free his arm - good work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rivera tries to get to full guard but Afzal has control of the leg.

Afzal is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Rivera is just riding it out for now. Afzal eventually gives up the hold. Rivera has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Afzal is working away from the top position though. Rivera is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

 That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
