Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alex Burns!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dis Newb!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burns rushes Newb and presses him up against the cage.
Burns lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Newb kicks Burns off and gets back to his feet.
Burns feints and as Newb raises his hands in defense, Burns changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Burns showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Burns knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Newb on the ground.
Burns has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Newb to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Burns is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Newb pulls down on the head and he's put Burns to sleep! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Dis Newb!
Our winner, Dis Newb, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
