The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ray is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Howell's half guard.
Howell is trying to maintain the position but Ray is very close to passing his half guard.
Howell is staying active underneath Ray, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Howell wants to get back to full guard.
Ray looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Howell tries to get to full guard but Ray has control of the leg.

Howell controls Ray momentarily but Ray frees himself.

Howell is trying to control the position but Ray postures up.
Howell will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Howell works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Ray is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Ray controls Howell momentarily but Howell frees himself.
Ray bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Howell's guard.
Ray slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Howell wants to stand and escape but Ray is having none of it.
Ray is stalling in the full guard.

Howell looking to control.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Ray tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Ray takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Ray manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Howell on his heels. He'll look to pass Howell's guard now, I'm sure.
Howell looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Howell is looking to sweep but instead, Ray has passed into half guard.

Howell tries to roll over but Ray keeps him under control.
Ray is trying to control. Howell wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Arnav Ray will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Howell feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Ray is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Howell controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Ray wants to control but Howell passes easily into half guard.

Ray pulls Howell in close to prevent any damage.
Howell knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ray on the ground.

Howell is trying to escape the position but Ray is controlling the position.
Ray's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Howell is trying to control Ray's posture but Ray avoids it.
Howell really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Howell is looking to regain half guard here but Ray keeps moving and retains side control.
Howell is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Ray's leg. Oh but that's left an opportunity for Ray! He's got an arm triangle... it looks tight! He's rotating and Howell has tapped! This one is allllll over!
