Shannon is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Larry Kings!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Damien Edna and Ben Hemmingworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shannon stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Shannon wants it to stay on the feet.

Kings darts in looking for a takedown but Shannon gets double underhooks and turns Kings into the cage.

Kings looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Shannon with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Kings wants to work for an arm triangle but Shannon is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Kings uses his free foot to push down on Shannon's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Shannon.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Kings shoots in looking for a takedown. Shannon tries to sprawl out of it but Kings keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Shannon manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Kings will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Shannon, as that shot connected.

That was a close second round but I would say that Curtis Shannon will probably get the nod.

and Shannon cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

and Kings counters with an outside leg kick.
A low kick lands for Kings.
Shannon throws a jab when Kings was well out of range.
Shannon rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Kings fails to land the takedown.
Kings moves out of range as Shannon strikes.
Shannon avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Kings shoots in and bounces Shannon off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Shannon pushes Kings off and gets back to his feet.

Kings shoots in and drives through. Shannon sprawls well.
Shannon was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Curtis Shannon.
