4 - 9 - 2, fighting out of Helsinki, Igor Igor! The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Johanna Lukiainen and Arvi Lind.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A jab from Benet misses. Benet takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Benet throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena. Igor misses with a series of wild punches.
Benet defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Igor. Horrible takedown by Benet or perhaps it was just good defense by Igor which made him look bad. Benet fails with an attempt to clinch.
Benet misses with a jab, cross combination.
Igor misses with a two punch combination.
Benet shoots for a double leg takedown but Igor sprawls well. He's pushed Benet's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Igor throws a combination that misses and Benet counters with a head kick that drops Igor to the mat! Igor scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly! Igor should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Igor looks gassed! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Benet fails with a takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mike Benet. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Benet feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Benet has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Igor is proving hard to escape from. Igor is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Benet defends well. Benet looking to pass the guard. Benet got a little sloppy there for a moment and Igor has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Benet has managed to get both his arms back between Igor's legs - danger averted.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Benet decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Benet wants to clinch up but Igor keeps it at a distance. Benet is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Benet instigates a clinch. Benet pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Benet shoots for a takedown but Igor saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Benet throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Igor counters with a nice uppercut. Benet closes the distance and clinches up with Igor, looking for a takedown. Benet pushes Igor against the cage but Igor circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Igor throws a right and a left that both miss. Benet changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Igor tries to avoid it but Benet manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Igor to the ground. Igor escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Benet looks for a takedown but Igor sprawls well. Igor avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Benet defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Igor. Benet shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Igor sprawls well. Igor wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Benet gets slowly back to his feet. Benet shoots in and drives through. Igor sprawls well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Benet takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Benet keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Igor. Benet scores with a push kick. Igor connects with a right hand. Benet shakes it off. Benet fails with the takedown. Benet fails with a takedown attempt from distance. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Igor lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Benet circles away quickly and effectively. Igor swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

It's a sloppy attempt though and Igor jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Igor pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Benet is keeping the position for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Igor wants to get up but he can't break Benet's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Benet is looking to clinch. Mike Benet is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Igor avoids the head kick by Benet.

Igor tries for a takedown but Benet sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Benet tries to score a power double leg takedown but Igor sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Benet somewhat. Some wild striking there from Igor.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Igor throws a series of punches but Benet moves out of range. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Benet misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Benet walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Benet throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Igor's head. Benet throws the kick towards the body but Igor avoids it. A decent looking cross lands there for Igor. Benet wants to clinch but Igor slips to the side and Igor counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Igor rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Benet moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Synel looks for a takedown but Gaines sprawls well. Synel swats away the attempt to clinch by Gaines. Synel slips under a jab. Gaines moves into the clinch. Gaines pulls guard effortlessly. Gaines is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Gaines looking to hit a scissor sweep but Synel is one step ahead there. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gaines has Synel pulled in close to control his posture. Synel wants to control from the top but Gaines keeps moving.

Maleady wants to hold on but Tyson pushes him away. Maleady is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position. Tyson landing strikes from the mount and Maleady is in trouble!
