The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fairtex gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Carlson to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fairtex wants to sweep but no luck.
Fairtex is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Carlson seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Carlson slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Carlson wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Fairtex, who protects the arm well.
Carlson is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Fairtex is trying to escape and Carlson transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Fairtex is forced to tap! Nice work there by Carlson! Very nice indeed!
