The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Gould.

Gould shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Alvarado pinned against the cage. Alvarado gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Gustavo Alvarado seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Gould takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Alvarado misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Gould.

Gould goes for a double leg but Alvarado avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Alvarado continues to drive forward.

Gould's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Gould fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Alvarado avoids it really well and circles away.

Alvarado feints and then cracks Gould's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Gould down.
Alvarado is looking to wear down Gould with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

Gould shoots in looking for a takedown but Alvarado manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Gould's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
