The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Valenzuela tries to clinch but Task is having none of it. Valenzuela blocks a head kick by Task.
Valenzuela decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Valenzuela wants to stand but Task has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now. Valenzuela is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Valenzuela wants to lay and pray for a moment but Task keeps working. Task pushes Valenzuela off looking to stand but Valenzuela dives back in and keeps control.
Task wants to control but Valenzuela is keeping busy and won't allow it. Task is looking for a sweep. Valenzuela is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. The fighters are battling for position here. Task manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Task preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Task has his foot on Valenzuela's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Valenzuela works his way back into a safe position though. Valenzuela throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Task works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Valenzuela wants to control from the top but Task keeps moving. Task is pulling down on Valenzuela's head. It's preventing any offense from Valenzuela, at least for the moment.

Valenzuela stops Task from standing up. Valenzuela must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Valenzuela trying to control the position from guard on top but Task is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Task is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Valenzuela looking for submissions off his back. Task is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Valenzuela is just riding it out for now. Task eventually gives up the hold.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. The fighters are battling for position here. Valenzuela manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Valenzuela manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Task throws a sloppy head kick and Valenzuela moves out of range easily. Valenzuela tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Task turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Valenzuela looks gassed! Task misses with a two punch combination.

Task tries to clinch but fails miserably and Valenzuela counters with a nice double leg into side control. Task won't be happy with that. Valenzuela tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily. Valenzuela is looking to take a break and control but Task is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Task manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Task regains full guard. Nicely done. Task wriggles free and stands up. Task fails with an attempt to clinch.

Valenzuela postures up in Task's guard and throws a big left but Task blocks it. Valenzuela trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Task escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Valenzuela gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Task looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Valenzuela trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Task working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Valenzuela doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Valenzuela manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Task manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Walker throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. McLean fails with a takedown attempt. McLean closes this distance looking for a takedown but Walker circles away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chris McLean. That's going to take a lot out of him. McLean throws a right and a left that Walker avoids nicely. McLean throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

He shot from a bit too far out. McLean is breathing heavily. Look low, kick high! Walker uses the oldest trick in the book to send McLean tumbling to the canvas, in a truly brutal knockout! Walker is absolutely delighted - when McLean wakes up, I doubt he'll be quite so happy!

Diggsby trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! Diggsby is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Taormina rolls with it to try and escape but Diggsby cranks on the arm and Taormina is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hound shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Paulister is trying to defend but Hound finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Paulister works his way to full guard. Good work. Hound sitting in guard, not really doing much. Paulister controlling the position. Hound throws a big right hand that misses. Hound wants to control from the top but Paulister keeps moving.

We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Hound tries to get out of the position. Paulister in side control lands a decent elbow. Paulister is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Hound is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Hound tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Paulister wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Paulister landing a few strikes. Paulister lands some shots froms side control. Hound is not content to let Paulister control the position. Paulister working away.

Melendez thows a body shot but no joy. Melendez shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Melendez connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Mendez shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mendez is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Melendez to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Melendez shrugs it off. Mendez is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Melendez can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Suki not landing any meaningful shots this time. Suki throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Suki wants to control but Jackson is keeping him busy. Suki looks to land a strike but Jackson avoids it nicely and regains full guard. Suki in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Suki shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jackson as he jumps to the side.

Jackson scores with a crisp jab that stopped Suki in his tracks. Jackson looks to land a combination but Suki avoids it well. Some wild striking there from Jackson.

Jackson stands up and waves to Suki to follow him. Jackson throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Jackson stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Jackson wants it to stay on the feet. Suki fails with the takedown. Cain Jackson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of We Suki. Jackson scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
