Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Aleksander Emelianenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nogueira has chosen Gimme Shelter as his entrance music. Aleksander Emelianenko had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Aleksander Emelianenko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Igor Prikhodko and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nogueira clinches with his opponent.
Emelianenko scores a nice knee to the body.
Emelianenko landing knees to the body.
Nogueira has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Emelianenko is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Nogueira tries to pull guard but Emelianenko holds him up against the cage and eventually Nogueira drops back down to his feet.
Emelianenko creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Nogueira's defenses.


It looks like Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira has been cut.
Nogueira tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Emelianenko smiles and moves away.
Aleksander Emelianenko has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira.

Nogueira is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Nogueira's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Nogueira pushes Emelianenko back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Nogueira throws a nice looking combination but Emelianenko bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Nogueira closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Nogueira lands in his opponent's guard.

Nogueira thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Nogueira seems to be looking for submissions.
Nogueira misses with a head shot. Emelianenko uses the momentum to regain guard.

Emelianenko knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Nogueira on the ground.

Emelianenko escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Nogueira gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Nogueira changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Emelianenko looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Emelianenko tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Nogueira paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Nogueira swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Nogueira misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Emelianenko fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Nogueira, pushing him back against the cage.

Nogueira shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Emelianenko pinned against the cage. Emelianenko gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Aleksander Emelianenko has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira.

and Nogueira counters with a series of strikes. Emelianenko will be more careful next time no doubt.

I would just about give that final round to Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira.
I've got Nogueira winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
