0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chris Peterson! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Stewart Dunkirk and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Oooh a lovely combination from Selasi sends Peterson down but not out. Selasi dives into side control looking to finish.
Peterson is rocked! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Selasi thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Peterson is still in real trouble! Can Selasi finish him? Selasi tries for a kimura but Peterson is defending well. Peterson misses with an elbow from the bottom. Peterson seems to have recovered his senses. Selasi throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Peterson is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Selasi off and has taken his back! Selasi covering up well under a series of strikes from Peterson. Selasi manages to reverse the position and now he's in Peterson's guard. Nice work there by Selasi.

Selasi drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Peterson manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Selasi has Peterson in his guard. That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Selasi keeping moving, preventing Peterson from controlling successfully. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Peterson is pushing down on Selasi's leg trying to pass to half guard. Selasi is fighting to maintain full guard but Peterson has managed to sneak the leg through. Selasi trying to control but Peterson postures up.
Selasi works his way to full guard. Good work. Peterson wanted to stand there but Selasi had control of the position. Selasi throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Peterson makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Peterson is in close to Selasi's body, working some short punches and elbows. Peterson preventing the sweep. Selasi looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Peterson takes the fight into the clinch. Selasi tries for a takedown but Peterson manages to get underhooks.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Peterson gets control of Selasi's arms and successfully pulls guard. Peterson will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Peterson keeping moving, preventing Selasi from controlling successfully. Peterson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Peterson wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Peterson wants to sweep here but Selasi controlling him for the moment. Peterson pulls Selasi in close to prevent any damage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Selasi scores with a one two! Peterson had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Peterson moves in looking to clinch but Selasi pushes him off. Peterson takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Selasi moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Peterson stuffs the takedown attempt from Selasi. Selasi gets slowly back to his feet. Peterson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Selasi, pushing him back against the cage. The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch. Peterson is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Peterson just leaning against Selasi, taking a breather. Selasi is trying to break free. Peterson breaks from the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round. Peterson gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Selasi counters with a takedown into side control. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Selasi wants to control but Peterson is keeping him busy. Selasi working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Selasi stands up and we're back to a striking position. Selasi misses with a series of wild punches.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Selasi works his way to full guard. Good work. Selasi tries to land a sweep but no joy. Peterson sitting in guard here, content to control. Peterson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Selasi. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Peterson throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Selasi works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Selasi is looking for a triangle but Peterson pushes his legs off easily.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Selasi trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Selasi keeping moving, preventing Peterson from controlling successfully. Peterson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Selasi has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Peterson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Haile Selasi overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Peterson not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Selasi is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Peterson manages to escape and get back to his feet! Peterson feints and as Selasi raises his hands in defense, Peterson changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Peterson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Selasi working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Peterson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Peterson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Selasi has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Peterson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Selasi throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Peterson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Peterson trying to control the position from guard on top but Selasi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Peterson controlling from the top position. Selasi tries to land a sweep but no joy. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Selasi lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Peterson! Peterson slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Peterson wants to get back to full guard. Selasi is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Peterson has managed to free his arm - good work. Peterson is not content to let Selasi control the position. Selasi seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Peterson is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
