Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kaiji Inoue (ranked 450 p4p, 56 weight class) and Kolbee Owens (ranked 1561 p4p, 182 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Inoue might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Ladies and Gentlemen (Saliva). Owens has chosen Destroyer as his entrance music. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kaiji Inoue!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kolbee Owens!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Russell Pearce and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Owens checks a low kick from Inoue.
A nice side step and Owens releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Owens misses with a hook
and Inoue counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Owens thinking.
Inoue throws a poor cross that misses
and Owens counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Nice defenses there by Owens.
Inoue avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
A quick step to the side and Inoue tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.

Inoue lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Owens uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Inoue.
Owens feints the counter takedown.
Inoue throws a lazy right hand but Owens sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Inoue has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

We've been informed that Owens has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.

Kaiji Inoue seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Owens is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Inoue.
As Owens looks to move away, Inoue throws a big counter combo but Owens just gets out of the way.

A little jabbing left from Owens on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

Inoue moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Owens uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Inoue.
A countering left hand to the body from Owens misses.
Owens feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Inoues jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

and Owens counters with a nice double leg into side control. Inoue won't be happy with that.

Owens wants to lay and pray for a moment but Inoue keeps working.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Owens misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Inoue wants to get back to his feet but Owens drags him back down.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Inoue here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

Owens's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Inoue throws a solid leg kick but Owens takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Inoue.
Owens doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Inoue lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Owens has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Owens and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Inoue looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.

Owens stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Inoue swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Owens wants to control from the top but Inoue keeps moving.

Owens stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Inoue has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Owens manages to get his head free but now Inoue has transitioned to an armbar! Owens grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Inoue! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!
