Coming up we have a welterweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Ramon Gracie (ranked 375 p4p, 52 weight class) and Paul Hunt (ranked 666 p4p, 89 weight class). Gracie's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Jiu Jitsu: Vai Finaliza!. This should be a great matchup!
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the welterweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Amsterdam, with a TWGC record of 3 wins and 3 losses; Ramon Gracie! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Helsinki, with a TWGC record of 5 wins and 4 losses; Paul Hunt! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. A momentary lapse in concentration from Hunt enables Gracie to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Hunt manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Gracie (2) vs (0) Hunt Hunt not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Hunt looking to hit a scissor sweep but Gracie is one step ahead there. Gracie has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Gracie trying to control the position from guard on top but Hunt is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gracie is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Hunt is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Gracie stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hunt swivels though and keeps the full guard. Hunt is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Gracie is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Hunt is just riding it out for now. Gracie eventually gives up the hold. Gracie is pressing down on Hunt's thigh, looking to free his foot. Hunt is holding on for now.

Gracie is keen to just control but Hunt is a slippery customer. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Gracie stalling. Hunt is staying active underneath Gracie, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
And that's the end of the fight! Gracie takes the fight on points by 18 to 9. Ramon Gracie tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool. |
