Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Roger Sr! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Lil Dicky! The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Winston Howard and Donatello Bradman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sr wants to clinch and Dicky counters with a nice body shot. Dicky uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Sr has time to react. Sr takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Sr tries to clinch up but Dicky circles away and keeps his distance. Sr tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Dicky paws at him with a jab and circles away. Sr throws a mid kick that lands with a slap. Sr darts in trying to clinch and Dicky makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Dicky closes the distance and lands a one-two. Dicky circles away from the clinch attempt and Sr takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Sr tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Dicky counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sr is looking to clinch but Dicky is avoiding it.
A nice side step and Dicky releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home. Sr tries to close the distance and clinch up but Dicky swats him away and circles back towards the center. Dicky throws out a counter right but Sr avoids it with no problem. Sr on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Sr is looking to take this fight into the clinch. A left and a right from Dicky both land. Nice combination. Sr tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Dicky manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Sr moves into the clinch. A nice glancing elbow lands by Sr.
It looks like Lil Dicky has been cut. Sr with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sr throws an elbow but it misses.
Dicky takes an elbow to the forehead. Sr pushes off an throws an elbow but Dicky leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage. Sr looks to throw an elbow but misses. Sr could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Dicky is looking to break free of the clinch but Sr has double underhooks. Dicky looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Sr connects with a nasty looking knee right to Dicky's face.
This has been an exciting period of action! Sr pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage. With the fighters up against the cage, Sr throws an elbow but misses. Dicky takes an elbow to the forehead. Dicky is trying to break the clinch but Sr has him pressed against the cage. Sr stops a takedown attempt from Dicky.
Sr misses with an elbow over the top. Dicky tries to break the clinch but Sr is controlling the position.

With the fighters up against the cage, Sr throws an elbow but misses. Sr lands a glancing elbow in the clinch. Dicky decides to pull guard. Dicky wants to stand up but Sr is controlling him. Sr controls from within his opponent's guard. Dicky looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dicky is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Dicky has a closed guard, preventing Sr from standing up. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Dicky can do anything to dispel that myth. Sr controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Dicky lands a glancing blow to the side of Sr's head. Sr tries to clinch but Dicky moves away and Dicky counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Dicky will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Sr tries to grapple but his opponent circles so Dicky counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Dicky sitting in guard, not really doing much. Dicky stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sr swivels though and keeps the full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Dicky trying to control but Sr is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sr can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Dicky controls the pace. Dicky won't allow Sr to get back to his feet. Dicky must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Dicky controls from within his opponent's guard. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Sr kicks Dicky off and gets to his feet. Dicky connects with a body shot. Sr tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Dicky manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sr fails in his attempt to clinch. Sr takes one to the chin there. Roger Sr seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Sr instigates a clinch. Dicky is trying to break free. Dicky wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Dicky has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Dicky tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Sr smiles and moves away.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Dicky with a flurry of punches that miss. Sr being controlled here, momentarily. Dicky won't allow Sr to get back to his feet. Dicky's corner is telling him to maintain position. Dicky throws a big right hand that misses. Dicky sitting in guard, not really doing much. Sr avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Sr takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
A lazy left from Dicky finds it's target. Dicky lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Nice takedown defense from Sr. No joy for Dicky on that attempt. Sr tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Sr tries to clinch but Dicky moves out of range. Dicky throws a good cross that connects.
Roger Sr is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Sr pushes Dicky up against the cage in a clinch. Sr throws a knee to the head but misses.

The cut above Lil Dicky's eye is starting to cause him problems now. Sr lands an elbow that stopped Dicky in his tracks for a moment. Dicky has Sr pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Dicky pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Sr tumbling to the mat - Dicky dives into Sr's guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Dicky controlling from the top position.
And that's the end of the fight! Roger Sr showed his dominance in that final round. I think Dicky has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
