Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Buakaw Banchamek! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Roger Jr! The judges for this bout are Ben Hemmingworth, Ron Honeybunn and Steve Erwin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jr bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick. Jr feints and then cracks Banchamek's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Banchamek down. Jr closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Jr lands in his opponent's guard. Banchamek is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Jr throws a big elbow that misses. Jr won't allow Banchamek to get back to his feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jr trying to control the position from guard on top but Banchamek is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Banchamek can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Jr controls the pace.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jr stands up from Banchamek's guard - Jr perhaps looking for a knockout. Banchamek clinches up against the cage. Jr is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Banchamek to keep the fight standing. Banchamek manages to break the clinch.
Banchamek throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Jr fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Banchamek sprawls well initially but Jr persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Banchamek has one foot on Jr's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. Jr throws a combination. Banchamek tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Jr drives through and clinches with Banchamek against the cage.
Banchamek scores a nice knee to the body.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jr pushes off an throws an elbow but Banchamek leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage. Banchamek has Jr pressed against the cage, preventing Jr from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Banchamek manages to break the clinch.
Jr throws a leg kick and Banchamek counters with a series of strikes. Jr will be more careful next time no doubt. Jr looks winded! Banchamek closes the distance and clinches. Jr has hold of one of Banchamek's legs. Banchamek is fighting the takedown attempt but Jr gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Jr won't allow Banchamek to get back to his feet. Banchamek trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful. The fighters are working up against the cage. Banchamek manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage. Banchamek manages to break the clinch.
Banchamek darts in and clinches Jr up against the cage. Banchamek lands a knee to the body.
Banchamek is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Banchamek pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Banchamek clinches up with Jr and pushes him back against the cage. Banchamek lands a good knee to the midsection. Jr won't want to take too many of those. Banchamek breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Banchamek misses with a head kick.
Jr is looking for the big counter here. Banchamek has managed to clinch.

Banchamek closes the distance and pushes Jr back into the cage. Banchamek escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Banchamek. Banchamek connects with a solid leg kick. Thud! ouch! good body kick from Banchamek - that will leave a mark!

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Banchamek clinches up with Jr and pushes him back against the cage. A body shot lands from Banchamek.
Banchamek putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Jr in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body. Banchamek breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Banchamek has taken the fight to the clinch.
Banchamek lands a good knee to the midsection. Jr won't want to take too many of those. Banchamek's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Banchamek tries a head kick but it misses.
Banchamek closes the distance and clinches. Banchamek breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Banchamek thuds his shin into the meat of Jr's side. Roger Jr seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Banchamek closes the distance and clinches. Banchamek unloads a knee to the mid-section. Jr lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Buakaw Banchamek dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!

Buakaw Banchamek is winning the standup battle so far. Jr avoids the head kick by Banchamek.
Banchamek pushes Jr away with a front kick. Jr throws a left and a right that both miss
and Banchamek counters with a left and a right that stings Jr. Jr changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Banchamek tries to avoid it but Jr manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Banchamek to the ground. Banchamek escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Banchamek moves into the clinch successfully.
Banchamek's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Banchamek looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Jr has his takedown stuffed and Banchamek counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Jr is breathing heavily. Banchamek fails with an attempt to clinch.

Both fighters working to control the clinch. Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Banchamek. Banchamek breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Banchamek scores with a head kick. Jr tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Jr is rocked! Banchamek has taken the fight to the clinch.
Jr is still on wobbly legs! Can Banchamek finish him? Banchamek manages to break the clinch.
Banchamek keeps Jr at a distance using the push kick. Banchamek throws a nasty head kick that just misses. He throws another kick to the head of his opponent and almost takes it off! Jr crumples to the floor and the fight is over!
