Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vovigton misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Hamada.
Hamada misses with a takedown attempt

and Vovigton counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Hamada is pressing down on Vovigton's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Vovigton has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Vovigton stays in close to Hamada's body and controls the position.
Vovigton with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Hamada lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.


Vovigton is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Vovigton looking for a guillotine here but Hamada defends easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Vovigton keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Colby Vovigton has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ryo Hamada.
Hamada throws an overhand right from the outside, which connects and sends Vovigton stumbling backwards into the cage! Vovigton bounces back off the cage towards Hamada, who cracks him with a two punch combination that drops him to his knees! Hamada lands two more shots before the referee has chance to intervene - what a finish! Hamada celebrates with his corner as the crowd cheer loudly.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Ryo Hamada!
An out of breath Ryo Hamada thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
