Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Wesley Poker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chief Zapata!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Donatello Bradman and Skip Squint.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zapata pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Poker looks for the body kick but Zapata saw that one coming.
Poker fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Zapata manages to avoid it.
Poker takes the fight into the clinch.
Poker can't break the clinch.
Poker has clasped his hands together around Zapata's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Zapata bucks up and tries to throw Poker off but instead Poker has got his back!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Poker controls the action.
Zapata is trying to stand back up.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Poker trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Zapata doesn't escape.
Zapata trying to get back to his feet but Poker is in full control for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Poker controlling the position well here. Zapata rolled but Poker kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Zapata is looking to escape but he's done so without protecting himself and Poker manages to counter with a nice rear naked choke! Zapata is in trouble and he's forced to tap!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Wesley Poker!
