Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between John Wayne Winner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Julian Subatoi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Subatoi's choice of entrance music: Like A Surgeon By Weird Al Yankovic. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Wayne Winner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Julian Subatoi!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Ian Loll and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Winner tries to close the distance and clinch but Subatoi swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Subatoi avoids the head kick by Winner.
Winner fails with an attempt to clinch.

Subatoi shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Winner looking to control.
Subatoi stops Winner from standing up.
Winner keeping moving, preventing Subatoi from controlling successfully.
Winner tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Subatoi wants to pass the guard but Winner is keeping the position.
Subatoi won't allow Winner to sweep him here.
Subatoi stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Winner swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Subatoi closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Winner makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Winner.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Subatoi is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Winner doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Subatoi.

Subatoi wants to free his trapped foot but Winner is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Winner wants to improve his position but Subatoi is controlling well.
Subatoi is looking to advance position but Winner won't allow it.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Subatoi seems to be looking for submissions.
Winner has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Subatoi is working away from the top position though.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
The fight stays on the outside here - Subatoi looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Winner moves into range and clinches up with Subatoi.
Winner can't break the clinch.
Subatoi blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Subatoi works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Winner controls Subatoi momentarily but Subatoi frees himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Subatoi sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Winner's guard.
Subatoi wants to free his trapped foot but Winner is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Subatoi is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Subatoi looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Winner wants to control but Subatoi is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Subatoi wants to pass the guard but Winner is defending well.
Winner is trying to stand.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Subatoi stuffs the takedown attempt from Winner. Winner gets slowly back to his feet.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Subatoi has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Winner avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Subatoi is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Subatoi has his foot on Winner's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Winner works his way back into a safe position though.

Julian Subatoi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Subatoi tries to bum rush Winner with a series of wild strikes but Winner uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

and Subatoi counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Winner's guard now.
