PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a super heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Benjamin Kueller (ranked 2398 p4p, 103 weight class) and Rob Ford (ranked 3643 p4p, 92 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
16 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Benjamin Kueller!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
24 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rob Ford!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Tatsuya Matsuyama.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kueller connects with a solid leg kick.
Ford lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Kueller circles away quickly and effectively.
Kueller throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Kueller ducks under a wild hook from Ford.
As Ford looks to move away, Kueller throws a big counter combo but Ford just gets out of the way.
Kueller bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Ford's head backwards.
Kueller lands a leg kick that knocks Ford off balance momentarily.
Ford slips a straight right by Kueller.
Kueller has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Xtramarital Floating Shingles in the buildup to the fight.
Kueller checks a leg kick.
Ford tries to clinch up but Kueller circles away and keeps his distance.
Kueller is looking for a counter combo.
Ford doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Ford lands with a right hand.
Kueller uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Ford has time to react.
The fight stays on the outside here - Ford looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Kueller attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
A big left from Kueller misses.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kueller misses with a jab, cross combination.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Ford! But no joy.
Ford throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Kueller.
Ford fails to land with a series of punches.
Kueller appears to be looking for a big counter.
Kueller tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Ford takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Ford ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Ford smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Kueller clobbers Ford with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Kueller misses with a body kick.
Kueller throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Kueller!
Ford lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Ford is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Kueller.
Kueller keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Good exchange - Ford coming out on top.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ford takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Ford attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Ford misses with a left hand
and Kueller counters with a nice uppercut.
Ford scores with a sloppy right hand. Kueller should have avoided that one.
Kueller throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Ford.
Ford tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Kueller paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Kueller was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kueller throws a solid leg kick but Ford takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Kueller.
Ford lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Kueller dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Ford. That did some damage!
Ford uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Kueller.
Kueller sets himself, and Ford steps forward looking for the clinch! Kueller avoids it this time.
Ford connects with a beautiful left hand that drops Kueller onto his butt! Kueller bounces straight back up though - he's OK. After the ref checks him out, we're back to the action.
Kueller is rocked!
Kueller throws a nice looking combination but Ford bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Oh Kueller is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Both fighters step back and shake their arms out. Ford engages and cracks Kueller with a massive lead left hook - Kueller tumbles to the floor, out cold! What a shot! Ford is delighted - all that hard work in training paid off!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Rob Ford!
Rob Ford seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
