PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Red Nose (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cory Scott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Red Nose!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Cory Scott!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, William Peck and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nose lands with a kick to the temple. Scott shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Scott misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Nose.
Scott dodges the punch combination from Nose.
Scott stuffs the takedown attempt from Nose. Nose gets slowly back to his feet.
Scott lands with a nice body kick.
Nose dodges the punch combination from Scott.
Scott tries to work over Nose's front leg with a kick but Nose checks it.
Scott throws a combination that misses

and Nose decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Scott's guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Nose wants to control from the top but Scott keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Scott is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Nose throws a strike but Scott rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Nose wants to sweep but no luck.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Scott stuffs the takedown.

Scott closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Scott is trying to maintain a safe position but Nose gets an underhook and turns Scott into the cage.
Scott blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Scott with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Nose is working for takedown but Scott is calmly controlling the position for now.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Red Nose. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A nice right hand lands inside from Scott.
Nose really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Scott tries to pull guard but Nose won't allow it.

Scott keeps control of Nose as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Scott using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Nose has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Nose manages to break the clinch.
Nose has a takedown stuffed.

Nose forces Scott back against the cage and clinches.

Scott escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Scott is looking to chop away at Nose's legs.
Scott will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Horrible takedown by Nose or perhaps it was just good defense by Scott which made him look bad.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Scott drives through with a takedown into guard.
Nose wants to sweep but no luck.
Nose not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Scott stands and steps away. Nose gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Nose gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Nose wants to sweep here but Scott controlling him for the moment.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Nose wants to get back to his feet but Scott is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Cory Scott will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Nose rushes Scott and presses him up against the cage.

Nose pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Nose takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Scott dodges the punch combination from Nose.

Scott shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Scott has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Nose's face.
Scott avoids the attempt from Nose to control.
Nose slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Scott slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Scott throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Nose counters with a left and a right that stings Scott.

Nose keeps the fight on the outside.
Scott misses with a series of wild punches.
Nose scores with a body shot.
Nose is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Cory Scott seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nose looks for a takedown but Scott sprawls well.

Nose is looking for a sweep.

Scott is trying to get an arm triangle but Nose is defending well.
Nose manages to work his way to half guard, despite Scott's best efforts.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Scott landing knees to the body.
Nose comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.

Nose tries to score a body lock takedown but Scott shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Nose wants to control from the top but Scott keeps moving.
Scott manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Nose manages to get himself to full guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Scott accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Nose controls Scott momentarily but Scott frees himself.

Scott is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Nose has escaped the position, nice work there.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Scott trying to control the position but Nose is working away.
Cory Scott has got the better of the ground game so far.
Nose is trying to control Scott's posture but Scott avoids it.
Cory Scott is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Red Nose has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Scott happy to just control the position for now.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

I've got Scott winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
