The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kislyak is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Kislyak is looking to clinch but Martin is avoiding it.
Martin misses with a jab, cross combination.
Martin keeps the fight on the outside. Martin drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Martin throwing strikes but missing. Martin with a flurry of punches that miss. Martin stays in close to Kislyak's body and controls the position. Martin trying to control the position from guard on top but Kislyak is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Martin drops back looking for a leg! Kislyak is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Kislyak manages to kick Martin off! Martin jumps back into Kislyak's guard. Kislyak avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Martin passes into half guard. Martin is working for a submission of some sort.
Martin stops Kislyak from getting back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Martin seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Kislyak does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Martin has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Kislyak is looking to escape. Still in half guard, Martin seems content to control. Kislyak is trying to stand up here but Martin is controlling him well. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Martin connects with a nice short shot to Kislyak's temple.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Martin is trying to control. Kislyak wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Martin prevents Kislyak from standing back up.
Kislyak blocking the ground and pound attempt from Martin. Martin is keen to just control but Kislyak is a slippery customer.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Martin keeps the fight on the outside. Kislyak tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Martin paws at him with a jab and circles away. Kislyak tries a head kick but it misses.
Kislyak moves out of range of the strikes. Kislyak throws a head kick but Martin moves out of range.
Martin gets the takedown into side control. Kislyak is breathing heavily. Kislyak prevents Martin from moving into mount. Kislyak is trying to get back to his feet. Kislyak parries the strikes from Martin easily there. Martin is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Kislyak to escape.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kislyak is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Martin misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Martin working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Martin is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Kislyak has escaped the position, nice work there. Martin tries for a kimura but Kislyak is defending well. Martin is looking to take a break and control but Kislyak is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Martin is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Kislyak will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Martin working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Martin scoring with punches and elbows. Martin throws a strike aimed at the side of Kislyak's head but Kislyak avoids it well. Kislyak is pushing Martin's head away, looking to escape. Martin manages to hold on to the position though. Martin just content to control the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
James Martin dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Martin keeps the fight on the outside. Kislyak pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Kislyak is looking to clinch but Martin is avoiding it.
Martin decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Martin seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Kislyak is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
