Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vince Silva Sr (ranked 3110 p4p, 346 weight class) and Palmer AZ (ranked 3528 p4p, 371 weight class). Vince Silva Sr has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Vince Silva Sr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Palmer AZ!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Sam Margolis and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
AZ defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Silva Sr.
Silva Sr darts in looking for a takedown but AZ gets double underhooks and turns Silva Sr into the ropes.
Silva Sr throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around AZ's waist but AZ gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Silva Sr off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Vince Silva Sr. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Silva Sr has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
AZ stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
AZ lands with a nice body punch.
Silva Sr shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. AZ defends it nicely.

and AZ counters with a right hand to the body.
AZ stuffs the takedown attempt from Silva Sr. Silva Sr gets slowly back to his feet.

AZ throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Silva Sr tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. AZ is in Silva Sr's guard.

Silva Sr lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
AZ shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Silva Sr eats them both and turns towards AZ to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.


It looks like Vince Silva Sr has been cut.

AZ closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Silva Sr to the mat! Silva Sr manages to get full guard.
Silva Sr is breathing heavily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as AZ accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

AZ gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

AZ dives in and scores a takedown into Silva Sr's guard.

AZ avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
AZ stays in close to Silva Sr's body and controls the position.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
AZ wants to control from the top but Silva Sr keeps moving.

Silva Sr is working an open guard so AZ takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

AZ drives through with a takedown into Silva Sr's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Silva Sr wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and AZ manages to pass to side control.

AZ throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

AZ keeps the fight on the outside.
AZ fails with a takedown attempt.
AZ throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Silva Sr's waist but Silva Sr gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing AZ off to one side.
AZ keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
AZ's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and AZ duly obliges.

AZ shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Silva Sr manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Silva Sr controls AZ momentarily but AZ frees himself.
AZ has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Silva Sr is trying to keep AZ in close.
Silva Sr is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
AZ clobbers Silva Sr with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

AZ looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Silva Sr!
Silva Sr gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
AZ really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Silva Sr. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Silva Sr is looking to improve his position.
Silva Sr is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of AZ's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take AZ's back!
AZ rolls, trying to escape but Silva Sr keeps control of the position.

Silva Sr is persistently looking for the submission but AZ is defending it well.
AZ is trying to stand back up.

Silva Sr has his arm under AZ's chin here. Game over son! Silva Sr squeezes tightly and AZ is forced to tap out!
