PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jeremiah Greenfeld (ranked 8068 p4p, 546 weight class) and Koi Kahale (ranked 6824 p4p, 497 weight class). Koi Kahale is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jeremiah Greenfeld!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Koi Kahale!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Tiny Johnson and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kahale misses with a double jab.
Kahale has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Greenfeld is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Greenfeld takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Greenfeld misses with a body kick.
Greenfeld walks into a straight right hand from Kahale.
Greenfeld avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Koi Kahale seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Greenfeld showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Kahale.
Kahale throws an overhand right that lands on Greenfeld's shoulder, as Greenfeld tries to avoid the shot.
Kahale takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
We've been told by Greenfeld's head coaches at Outlier Martial Arts that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Greenfeld drops his hands momentarily and Kahale takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Greenfeld throws a head kick but Kahale moves out of range.
Greenfeld misses with a body kick.
Greenfeld staying out of range there.
Kahale tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Greenfeld manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Greenfeld wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Kahale dodges the punch combination from Greenfeld.

Kahale clobbers Greenfeld with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Greenfeld swats away the attempt to clinch by Kahale.
Kahale throws a series of punches but Greenfeld moves out of range.
Kahale tries to close the distance and clinch but Greenfeld swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Kahale tries to bum rush Greenfeld with a series of wild strikes but Greenfeld uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Kahale has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

Greenfeld darts in and clinches Kahale up against the cage.

Greenfeld has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Kahale uses from the top position.
Greenfeld is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Kahale is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Kahale is pushing down on Greenfeld's leg trying to pass to half guard. Greenfeld is fighting to maintain full guard but Kahale has managed to sneak the leg through.

Kahale frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Greenfeld might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Greenfeld is wriggling around trying to escape.
Kahale wants to control the pace but Greenfeld is squirming around nicely.

Greenfeld trying desperately to get to his feet.
Kahale controlling the position easily from mount.
Kahale trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Kahale working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kahale controlling from mount.
Greenfeld is desperately trying to improve his position but Kahale has a good base and remains in mount.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Kahale tries to control but Greenfeld wriggling away.

Kahale jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Greenfeld is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Greenfeld and Kahale has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Greenfeld walks into a jab.
Greenfeld tries for a takedown but Kahale circles away easily
and Kahale cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Kahale keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Greenfeld changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kahale tries to avoid it but Greenfeld manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kahale to the ground. Kahale escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Jeremiah Greenfeld is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Kahale throws a right hand that Greenfeld ducks under and follows up with a left that Greenfeld also avoids with ease.
Kahale closes the distance looking to clinch
and Greenfeld counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kahale will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

and Kahale cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Kahale leaves Greenfeld with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Koi Kahale showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Greenfeld's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Kahale wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Greenfeld has him pressed against the cage.
Kahale tries to stall but Greenfeld uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Greenfeld's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Kahale darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
No joy there for Kahale, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Koi Kahale seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Kahale tries to clinch but Greenfeld is having none of it.
Greenfeld appears to be looking for a big counter.

Kahale catches Greenfeld with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Kahale stuffs the takedown attempt from Greenfeld. Greenfeld gets slowly back to his feet.

Kahale lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Greenfeld walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Kahale lands with a hook. Greenfeld tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Kahale lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Greenfeld circles away quickly and effectively.

Greenfeld clinches up with Kahale and pushes him back against the cage.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Kahale fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Greenfeld pulls guard successfully.
Kahale looking to sit in guard and control but Greenfeld gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Kahale working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Greenfeld doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Greenfeld manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Kahale has his foot on Greenfeld's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Greenfeld works his way back into a safe position though.
Kahale takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Greenfeld decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Kahale, up you get!

Greenfeld closes this distance looking for a takedown but Kahale circles away.

Kahale forces Greenfeld back against the cage and clinches.

Kahale is trying to push Greenfeld away but Greenfeld has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Kahale pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Greenfeld closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Kahale wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Kahale can't break the clinch.
Greenfeld digs a right hand underneath Kahale's ribcage. Kahale let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Greenfeld drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Kahale gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Greenfeld manages to break the clinch.
Jeremiah Greenfeld has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Koi Kahale is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Kahale cracks Greenfeld with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Koi Kahale comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Kahale winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
