PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kilat KickAss (ranked 6064 p4p, 449 weight class) and Gustaw Lis (ranked 6367 p4p, 458 weight class). Gustaw Lis told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kilat KickAss! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Gustaw Lis! The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Steven Brown and Andrew Berry.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lis closes the distance and clinches up with KickAss, looking for a takedown. Lis pushes KickAss against the cage but KickAss circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Lis slips a jab from KickAss. KickAss closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Lis did well to prevent KickAss getting side control. KickAss looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
KickAss tries to pass to full mount but Lis defends it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. KickAss controlling the action here.
That's one minute gone in the round. KickAss stops Lis from getting back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. KickAss slows the pace down in half guard. KickAss is working for a kimura but Lis is defending it quite comfortably.
KickAss tries to pass the half guard into mount. Lis knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. We've been hearing good reports from KickAss's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Lis is pressing down on KickAss's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. KickAss looking to control the position here, rather than advance. KickAss preventing the sweep. KickAss's corner is telling him to maintain position. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Lis shoots in for a takedown but KickAss shows good takedown defense. Lis lands with an uppercut that bounces KickAss off the cage and back into range.
That's three minutes gone in the round. KickAss throws a shot from downtown. Lis moves away and avoids it. Left hook, right uppercut from Lis. KickAss connects with a body shot that sends Lis's belly button to the back. KickAss throws a big shot that misses. KickAss changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Lis looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Lis looks winded! KickAss has hold of Lis's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Lis seems comfortable defending it but KickAss has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Lis is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Lis is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but KickAss couldn't care less - he's delighted!
