Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mohamed Brendan (ranked 25378 p4p, 181 weight class) and Zeru Subramaniam (ranked 25382 p4p, 200 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Zeru Subramaniam enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mohamed Brendan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Zeru Subramaniam!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Tarja Halkonen and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brendan swinging wildly here.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Brendan tries for a takedown but Subramaniam sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Brendan throws a leg kick but Subramaniam sees it coming and checks it nicely.

Subramaniam takes the fight into the clinch.
Brendan fails to pull guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mohamed Brendan. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Brendan jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Subramaniam walks away with a smile on his face. Brendan gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Subramaniam wanted to stand there but Brendan had control of the position.
Brendan is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Subramaniam wants to control from the top but Brendan keeps moving.
Subramaniam might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Brendan haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Subramaniam lands a couple of elbows.

Subramaniam is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Brendan is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Brendan is looking for a triangle but Subramaniam pushes his legs off easily.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Subramaniam has closed the distance and engaged Brendan in a clinch.

Subramaniam pulls guard effortlessly.
Subramaniam looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Brendan puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Subramaniam wants to control but Brendan is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Brendan looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Subramaniam has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Brendan is working away from the top position though.

Brendan throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Subramaniam was covering up waiting for the punch and Brendan finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Brendan stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Subramaniam swivels though and keeps the full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Subramaniam is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Brendan is controlling him.
Brendan loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Brendan might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Subramaniam is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Brendan can't fight it off and eventually Subramaniam manages to take the fight to the floor. Brendan looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Brendan has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Brendan is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Subramaniam has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Subramaniam not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Brendan is trying to control the position but Subramaniam postures up.
Subramaniam prevents Brendan from getting back to his feet.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Subramaniam tries to stand but Brendan is controlling from the bottom.
Zeru Subramaniam has got the better of the ground game so far.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Brendan has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Subramaniam regains guard immediately.

Subramaniam has his hands on Brendan's head, controlling the position.

A close second round but Zeru Subramaniam will probably get the nod - 10:9.

and Subramaniam counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Subramaniam shoots in and bounces Brendan off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Brendan is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Subramaniam frees his head nicely. Oh but Brendan has switched to an armbar! Subramaniam is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
