Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rahim Shabazz!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Eric Dungey!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Daniel Franklin and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dungey uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Shabazz.
Dungey lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Shabazz falls off balance throwing a combination
and Dungey counters with a nice leg kick.
Dungey shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Shabazz eats them both and turns towards Dungey to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Shabazz lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Shabazz drives through with a takedown into Dungey's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Dungey feints and then cracks Shabazz's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Shabazz down.

Dungey connects with a leg kick. Shabazz looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Shabazz, as that shot connected.


It looks like Eric Dungey has been cut.

I was talking to Shabazz's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Rahim Shabazz overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Shabazz accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Shabazz escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Dungey gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Dungey felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
