Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ruslan Karelin (ranked 721 p4p, 90 weight class) and Augusto Pinochet (ranked 899 p4p, 110 weight class). Pinochet has chosen I Need a Pinochet as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Ruslan Karelin has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Augusto Pinochet! The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Aafke Stam and Paulsen Ambrosius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Karelin looks to throw the jab but Pinochet is out of range. Pinochet throws a big counter head kick but Karelin avoids it with no problem. Pinochet is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
It looks like Augusto Pinochet has been cut. Pinochet throws a nice inside leg kick. Karelin loads up on a big right hand but Pinochet slips the punch. Pinochet ducks under a wild hook from Karelin. Karelin throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Pinochet gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Karelin to score an easy takedown into full guard. Karelin lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Karelin trying to control but Pinochet is working from the bottom. Karelin throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Karelin lands a couple of digs. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pinochet trying to control the position.

Karelin has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Pinochet keeping moving, preventing Karelin from controlling successfully. Karelin showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Karelin won't allow Pinochet to sweep him here.

Pinochet utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Karelin is working Pinochet over from the guard. Karelin arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Pinochet's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Ruslan Karelin! Ruslan Karelin tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
