Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Dom Cruz (ranked 428 p4p, 53 weight class) and Haislan Garcia (ranked 765 p4p, 100 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

24 - 11 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Haislan Garcia! The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cruz shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Garcia is trying to defend but Cruz finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Garcia is trying to maintain the position but Cruz is very close to passing his half guard. Cruz drops an elbow to the side of Garcia's head. Ground and pound from Cruz. Garcia manages to get to full guard.
Garcia manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Cruz manages to get himself to full guard.
Cruz had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Garcia defends it easily. Garcia tries to free his leg and advance position but Cruz is retaining full guard. He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Cruz was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Cruz postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Garcia takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Cruz is concentrating on defense, preventing Garcia from advancing position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cruz is looking to get back to full guard here but Garcia has managed to pass to side control instead. Garcia is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Cruz rather than just go for the knockout. Garcia feints and then cracks Cruz's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Cruz down. Cruz with a lazy takedown attempt and Garcia counters with a good low kick that Cruz was not able to check.
