Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ryan Henderson ! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mihail Plouhov! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Gwen Towbar and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Henderson wants to clinch. A slow jab from Henderson misses its intended target. Henderson tries to close the distance and clinch but Plouhov swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Plouhov throws a body shot but no joy. Henderson rushes Plouhov and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Plouhov prevents a takedown attempt there.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Henderson takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Plouhov is trying to break the clinch but Henderson has him pressed against the cage. Henderson gets underhooks to prevent Plouhov's takedown attempt.
Henderson tries a body shot but Plouhov blocks it.
Henderson manages to pull guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Plouhov drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Plouhov jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Plouhov trying to control the position from guard on top but Henderson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Plouhov tries to free his leg and advance position but Henderson is retaining full guard. Plouhov drops back for a leg! Plouhov passes Henderson 's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Plouhov is looking to advance position but Henderson won't allow it. Henderson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Plouhov on the ground.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Plouhov is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Henderson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Plouhov is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Henderson sees it coming and defends easily. Plouhov controlling the action here. Plouhov trying to mount his opponent but Henderson defends it. Still in half guard, Plouhov seems content to control. Henderson looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Plouhov seems to be working for a kimura but Henderson defends the submission attempt. Plouhov seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Henderson on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Henderson tries to get out of the position. Henderson is trying to stand.
Plouhov is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Henderson is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
