Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tyrone Davis (ranked 6473 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stefano De Stein (ranked 3916 p4p, 0 weight class). Stefano De Stein will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tyrone Davis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Stefano De Stein!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Chad Campbell and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davis fails to land the takedown.
Despite the aggression on De Stein's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
De Stein misses with a combination

and Davis counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Davis.
Davis in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Davis controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Davis wanted to stand there but De Stein had control of the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
De Stein is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Davis is controlling him.
Davis landing some decent shots from guard.
Davis has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Davis seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Davis has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from De Stein finds it's way round the side to connect with Davis's head.
De Stein throws a sloppy head kick and Davis moves out of range easily.
De Stein lands a head kick. Davis smiles back at him and beckons him forward.


Davis is rocked!

Davis throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. De Stein was covering up waiting for the punch and Davis finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Davis is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Davis passes De Stein's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Davis lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Still in half guard, Davis seems content to control.
Davis's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Davis is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Davis looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Further stalling from Davis.
Davis working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
De Stein avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Davis.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Davis is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Davis is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. De Stein doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Davis.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Stefano De Stein is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Davis closes the distance and clinches up with De Stein, looking for a takedown. Davis pushes De Stein against the cage but De Stein circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
De Stein throws a sloppy head kick and Davis moves out of range easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tyrone Davis dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


De Stein misses with a two punch combination.
De Stein throws a right and a left that both miss.
De Stein misses with a head kick.
Davis throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
De Stein swats away the attempt to clinch by Davis.
De Stein is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
De Stein misses with a looping left.
Davis was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
De Stein is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Davis drives through with a takedown into De Stein's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
De Stein is looking to stand back up but Davis counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by De Stein.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Davis in particular looking to stall.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Davis is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. De Stein doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Davis.
Davis is taking a breather. De Stein says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

If it seems like I'm not saying a lot, it's just because Davis is stinking the place up with his stalling.

Davis seems to be looking for submissions.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Davis is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Davis lands a nice short elbow.

Davis decides to stand and escape the position.
De Stein connects with a high kick.
De Stein looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Tyrone Davis is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Davis shoots in for a takedown but De Stein shows good takedown defense.
A big left from De Stein misses.
De Stein throws a head kick but Davis moves out of range.
De Stein is breathing heavily.
De Stein lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

De Stein misses with the combination.

Davis is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in De Stein's half guard.
Davis knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for De Stein on the ground.
Davis is controlling the pace.
Davis prevents De Stein from standing back up.
Davis looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Davis is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and De Stein defends it well.
Davis takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Still in half guard, Davis seems content to control.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Davis connects with a nice short shot to De Stein's temple.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Stefano De Stein will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's time! Davis's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Davis attempts a counter takedown but De Stein avoids it well and moves away.
Davis wants to clinch.

De Stein has momentary wrist control but Davis slips an elbow through the middle.
Davis is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Davis is stalling in the full guard.

De Stein has a closed guard, preventing Davis from standing up.
Davis sitting in guard, not really doing much.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
De Stein misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
De Stein throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
De Stein takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
De Stein misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Davis closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Davis tries to pass to full mount but De Stein defends it.
Davis is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Davis seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Well, if Davis is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Davis wants to pass to mount but De Stein is defending the position.

Davis wants to work for an arm triangle but De Stein is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Davis wants to stand but De Stein is controlling his arm.
Davis landing a few strikes.
De Stein wants to get back to his feet.

Davis is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
