Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mfer Phol (ranked 327 p4p, 48 weight class) and Jack Blood (ranked 266 p4p, 41 weight class). Blood has chosen Raining Blood - Slayer as his entrance music. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mfer Phol!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Jack Blood!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Colin Fotheringham and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice straight punches there by Blood. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Blood.
Phol rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Blood decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Phol's guard.
Blood pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Phol is keeping the position for now.
Blood is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Blood passes Phol's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Blood is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
We've been hearing good reports from Phol's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Blood is looking for a kimura here.

The referee warns Phol that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Blood tries to control but Phol wriggling away.

Phol holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Blood tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

Phol keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Blood sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Blood tries to control but Phol wriggling away.
Blood might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Phol haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Blood throws some wild stikes that Phol manages to avoid easily.

Mfer Phol's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Blood thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Blood misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Blood can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Phol is looking to escape.

Blood slips a nice elbow through Phol's hands, connecting with Phol's forehead.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Blood blocks a jab.
Phol walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Blood tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Phol was well out of range. Poor timing from Blood.
Phol takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Blood darts in trying to clinch
and Phol counters with a lovely shot to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Blood drives through with a takedown into Phol's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Phol pushes Blood off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Phol walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.


Jeez, Mfer Phol's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
Blood dives in for a single leg takedown but Phol sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Blood lands a body shot.
Blood ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Horrible takedown attempt by Blood or perhaps it was just good defense by Phol, which made it look bad.

Blood moves out of range of the strikes.

Blood closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Phol's guard.

Blood postures up in Phol's guard and throws a big left but Phol blocks it.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Phol wants to control but Blood postures up.

Blood has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Phol is looking for a sweep.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Blood misses with a takedown attempt - Phol sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Blood shoots in looking for a takedown. Phol tries to sprawl out of it but Blood keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Phol manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Phol is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Blood.
Jack Blood seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Phol walks into a straight right hand from Blood.
Phol throws a body shot but no joy.
Blood fails with the takedown
and Phol counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Mfer Phol has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Blood.
Blood uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Phol has time to react.
Blood takes a swing at Phol's ribcage but misses.
Jack Blood is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Phol lands a glancing blow to the side of Blood's head.
Phol uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Blood.
Blood has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.

Blood closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Blood keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Blood is looking to take a break and control but Phol is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Blood is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Phol displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Blood.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Phol circles away from the clinch attempt.
Phol was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
A swing and a miss from Phol.
Blood connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Phol momentarily.
Blood displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Phol throws out the jab.
Blood shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Phol as he jumps to the side.
Phol throws a looping overhand right but Blood ducks down to avoid it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Blood fails with an attempt to clinch.
Mfer Phol has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Blood shoots in for a double leg but Phol sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Mfer Phol.
I think Blood has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
