PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Don Poeier (ranked 4326 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alessandro Piranha (ranked 4365 p4p, 404 weight class). Poeier's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Blue Flowers. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Don Poeier! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Alessandro Piranha! The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Colin Fray and Jeff Smith.
![](https://www.mmatycoon.com/images/fight/round1.jpg) The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Poeier thumps Piranha with a low kick. Piranha tries to move into range but Poeier moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. An inside leg kick lands from Poeier.
Poeier closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Piranha to the mat! Piranha manages to get full guard. Poeier showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Poeier stopping the sweep attempt from Piranha. Poeier will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Piranha looking to control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Piranha pulls Poeier in to control the position.
Piranha had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Poeier defends it easily.
Piranha working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Poeier doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Poeier manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Poeier wants to stand but Piranha is controlling his posture from full guard. Poeier slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Poeier knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Piranha on the ground.
Piranha is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Poeier defends well.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Poeier is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Piranha looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Piranha is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Poeier has his hands clasped together but Piranha extends and breaks Poeier's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Piranha.
