Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kustarbek Ashimov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chengiz Yilmaz! The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, John Roberts and Russell Pearce.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ashimov with a poor takedown and Yilmaz counters by clinching up. Ashimov leaning against his opponent.
Yilmaz successfully pulls guard.
Ashimov trying to control but Yilmaz is working from the bottom. Yilmaz really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ashimov. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Ashimov is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Yilmaz is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Ashimov loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ashimov tries to free his leg and advance position but Yilmaz is retaining full guard. Ashimov throwing strikes but missing. Yilmaz has Ashimov pulled in close to control his posture. Yilmaz drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Ashimov manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Yilmaz has Ashimov in his guard. Yilmaz keeping moving, preventing Ashimov from controlling successfully. Ashimov with a flurry of punches that miss. Ashimov prevents Yilmaz from getting back to his feet.

Ashimov passes easily into side control. Nice work. Ashimov wants to control but Yilmaz is keeping him busy. Ashimov works to advance to full mount. Yilmaz defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Ashimov controlling the pace for now. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Yilmaz can do anything to dispel that myth. Yilmaz really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Yilmaz throws a head kick that misses. Ashimov throws a lazy head kick and Yilmaz decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Ashimov's guard. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Ashimov is on top in guard.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Ashimov is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Ashimov looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Ashimov is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Yilmaz doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Ashimov. Yilmaz is staying active underneath Ashimov, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Ashimov has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Ashimov shoots for a double leg takedown but Yilmaz sprawls well. He's pushed Ashimov's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Yilmaz drives through and clinches with Ashimov against the cage.

Yilmaz is trying to break the clinch but Ashimov has him pressed against the cage. Ashimov goes for a takedown in the clinch but Yilmaz prevents it.

Yilmaz fails with the takedown. Yilmaz fails in his attempt to clinch. It looked like Ashimov was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Yilmaz. Yilmaz will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Ashimov bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Yilmaz's guard. Ashimov looking to pass the guard. Ashimov scoring with punches to the head and body. Yilmaz keeping moving, preventing Ashimov from controlling successfully.

Ashimov creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Yilmaz sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Yilmaz tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Ashimov wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Yilmaz prevents Ashimov from improving position. Ashimov throws an elbow but Yilmaz slips to the side and avoids it well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ashimov working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. And that's the end of the fight! Kustarbek Ashimov showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Ashimov, winning every round. Will the judges agree?
