The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Hernandez checks a leg kick.
Lakis fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Horrible takedown attempt by Lakis or perhaps it was just good defense by Hernandez, which made it look bad.
Lakis closes the distance and clinches up with Hernandez, looking for a takedown. Lakis pushes Hernandez against the cage but Hernandez circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Joey Hernandez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Maris Lakis.
Hernandez looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Lakis moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Hernandez definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Lakis darts in looking for a takedown but Hernandez gets double underhooks and turns Lakis into the cage.
Lakis has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Lakis is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Lakis is rocked!
Hernandez circles away before darting back in with a big straight right hand. It connects beautifully and sends Lakis tumbling to the canvas! He's out cold! Hernandez wins by KO!

Joey Hernandez really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Voodoo Nutrition logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
