PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Daisuke Hazuki (ranked 3118 p4p, 291 weight class) and Uadab Santiago (ranked 2904 p4p, 270 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Daisuke Hazuki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Uadab Santiago!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Arvi Lind and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hazuki moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
No joy there for Hazuki, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Hazuki stalks Santiago and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Santiago's face. Santiago staggers backwards, shaken.

Hazuki closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Hazuki stands up and we're back to a striking position.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Santiago fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Hazuki seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.

Hazuki takes the fight into the clinch.

Santiago is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Santiago is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Hazuki doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Santiago.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Hazuki wants to improve his position but Santiago is controlling well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Santiago is trying to control. Hazuki wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hazuki wants to get back to full guard.
Hazuki knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Santiago on the ground.

Santiago is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Hazuki defends it well.

Santiago drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Hazuki dives on top into guard.

Hazuki seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Santiago is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Hazuki wants to control from the top but Santiago keeps moving.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Santiago controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Santiago drops back, looking for a kneebar! Hazuki looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Hazuki looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Hazuki!

Uadab Santiago comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Santiago has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
