PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Coral Sea (ranked 437 p4p, 54 weight class) and Uri Gellar (ranked 1125 p4p, 135 weight class). Sea comes into the arena with For Heavy Metal we will die! blaring out of the sound system. Gellar has chosen James Randi exposes Uri Geller as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
16 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Coral Sea! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
33 - 15 - 2, fighting out of Los Angeles, Uri Gellar! The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Albert Achterberg and Wagner Zegers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sea slips a jab and a cross from Gellar.
Gellar tries to clinch there but Sea circles away.
Gellar displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Sea. Sea keeps Gellar at a distance using the push kick. Sea cracks Gellar with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Gellar checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Gellar takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Gellar gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Sea. Sea dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Gellar lands a nice looking body kick. Gellar takes one to the chin there. Gellar avoids a low kick by using good footwork. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Sea uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Gellar has time to react. Gellar tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. Sea moves out of range of the body kick from Gellar.
Gellar takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
A swing and a miss from Sea.
That's one minute gone in the round. Good shot there by Sea. Sea feints and then cracks Gellar's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Gellar down. Sea blocks a head kick by Gellar.
Sea misses with an attempted mid kick.
Gellar flicks out a counter leg kick but Sea steps away. Sea misses with a wild body shot. Uri Gellar is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Gellar misses with a straight left. Sea connects with a single shot there. A swing and a miss from Sea. Sea just misses with a punch to the body.
Sea lands a jab to the head.
Sea is looking to slow Gellar down with leg kicks. Sea chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Sea throws a predictable looking body shot
and Sea takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Gellar uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Sea. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Gellar throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Sea fails with a takedown attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sea lands a jab. Sea shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Gellar is trying to defend but Sea finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Sea working over Gellar with some ground and pound. Gellar looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Sea is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Sea not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Gellar wants to improve his position but Sea is controlling well.
Gellar is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Sea jumps into side control! Gellar trying to remain calm as Sea controls from the top position. Gellar is trying to improve his position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sea lands an elbow. Gellar can't do much from the bottom here. Sea wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gellar keeps working. Sea working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Sea misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
You can see the frustration on Gellar's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Sea in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Gellar is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Coral Sea! A very excited looking Coral Sea rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
