Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Marcellus Marcus (ranked 2170 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeronimo Barcelos (ranked 2038 p4p, 0 weight class). Jeronimo Barcelos will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marcellus Marcus ! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jeronimo Barcelos! The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Eddie Farnsworth and Franklyn Lucas.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Barcelos tries to clinch but fails miserably and Marcus counters with a nice double leg into side control. Barcelos won't be happy with that. Barcelos is trying to buck Marcus off. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Marcus trying to control the action but Barcelos is working from the bottom. Marcus looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Barcelos prevents Marcus from moving into mount. Barcelos is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Marcus asserts his dominance and retains side control. Marcus cracks Barcelos with an elbow. That is naaassty. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Marcus wants to control but Barcelos is keeping him busy. Barcelos is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Barcelos is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Barcelos is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Marcus knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Barcelos on the ground. Marcus works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Barcelos throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done! Barcelos throws a sloppy head kick and Marcus moves into the clinch. Marcus keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Barcelos's efforts to push away. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Marcus chips away with some ground and pound. Marcus postures up and lands a big shot to Barcelos's brow. Barcelos is looking to stand back up but Marcus counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Barcelos. Barcelos tries to kick Marcus off but Marcus keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Marcus is nestled in close to Barcelos, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Marcus slips a nice elbow through Barcelos's hands, connecting with Barcelos's forehead. Barcelos tries to kick Marcus off but Marcus keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Marcus wants to take a breather but Barcelos is having none of it. Barcelos pushes Marcus off looking to stand but Marcus dives back in and keeps control.

Marcellus Marcus dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Marcus misses with a hook. Barcelos throws a sloppy head kick and Marcus moves into the clinch. Barcelos misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Marcus .
Marcus wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Barcelos has him pressed against the cage. Marcus is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Barcelos to keep the fight standing. Barcelos is trying to break free. Barcelos misses with a short punch on the inside. Barcelos looking to stall.
Barcelos has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Barcelos tries to stall but Marcus uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Marcus has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Barcelos is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Marcus wants to get back to striking at distance but Barcelos won't allow it.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Marcellus Marcus . That's going to take a lot out of him. Marcus will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Barcelos up against the cage. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Marcus . That was a close second round but I would say that Marcellus Marcus will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Marcus drives through with a takedown into Barcelos's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Barcelos wants to stand and escape but Marcus is having none of it. Marcus is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Marcus is standing up over Barcelos. Barcelos looks to escape but Marcus dives into side control.
Jeronimo Barcelos has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Marcellus Marcus is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. A lull in the action here.
And that's the end of the fight! Marcellus Marcus showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Marcus , winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
