Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Richard Villareal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Mack (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Richard Villareal!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sam Mack!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, David Schapiro and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Villareal drives through with a takedown into guard.
Mack striking off his back but it's not causing Villareal any problems.
Mack utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Mack working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Villareal.

Villareal thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Villareal prevents Mack from getting back to his feet.

Villareal postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Mack is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Villareal, into his guard.

Villareal escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Mack gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Villareal has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mack can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Villareal has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Mack is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Villareal.

Mack works to advance to full mount. Villareal defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Villareal is in all sorts of trouble here.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Mack seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Villareal does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

A close round but Sam Mack will probably get the nod.
That's time! Villareal's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Villareal closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Mack to the mat! Mack manages to get full guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Mack can do anything to dispel that myth.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Mack will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Villareal looks for a takedown but Mack sprawls well.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Villareal uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Mack.

Villareal has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Mack finds it's way round the side to connect with Villareal's head.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Villareal is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Mack.
Mack scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Mack lands a with a good body shot.
Villareal on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Mack misses with a wild combination.

Mack gets the takedown into side control.
Villareal wants to control but Mack postures up.
Mack is chipping away with strikes.
Villareal is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Mack decides to stand back up. Mack steps back and let's Villareal get back to his feet.
A combination from Mack does no damage.

Villareal misses with a takedown
letting Mack counter with a right hand.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Richard Villareal. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mack rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Villareal moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Mack scores with a shot to the body.

Mack closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Mack lands in his opponent's guard.
Villareal not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Mack controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Mack stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Villareal swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Villareal is looking for a triangle here but Mack uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Villareal trying to remain calm as Mack controls from the top position.
Villareal is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Mack is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Mack prevents Villareal from getting the reversal.
Villareal squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Villareal is bucking up trying to escape but Mack cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Sam Mack has got the better of the ground game so far.
Mack controlling from the full mount.
Villareal is looking to get to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sam Mack showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Mack moves into range and connects with a jab.
Villareal with a lazy takedown attempt
and Mack counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Mack misses with a jab, cross combination.
Mack moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Villareal takes one to the chin there.
Mack drops Villareal with a nice combination! Mack dives into Villareal's guard, looking to finish!


Richard Villareal's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Mack makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Mack stands up from Villareal's guard - Mack perhaps looking for a knockout.
Mack lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Villareal on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Villareal doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Mack connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.


Jeez, Richard Villareal's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
Mack throws a series of punches but Villareal moves out of range.
Mack lands with a nice combination. Villareal backs away looking to recover.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Villareal shoots and misses
and Mack counters with a left and a right that stings Villareal.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Richard Villareal's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:12 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Sam Mack!
