Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Alejandro Lozano (ranked 6203 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matheo Rojas (ranked 2288 p4p, 0 weight class). Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Alejandro Lozano! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
14 - 12 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Matheo Rojas! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Frank Dennis and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lozano throws a jab when Rojas was well out of range. Lozano throws a hook to the side of Rojas's head but Rojas sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Rojas fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Lozano. Rojas lands a lovely overhand right. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! A thudding body kick lands there by Rojas!
Rojas connects with a good right hand that stumbles Lozano. Lozano circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Rojas scores with a nice strike. Lozano throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Rojas counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Lozano has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Lozano there as he acknowledges the shot. Rojas connects with a looping right hand.
Rojas has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Lozano misses with a hook
and Rojas counters with a straight right hand. Rojas keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Lozano. Rojas moves away from the strike by Lozano. Rojas lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Rojas ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Rojas lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Lozano works the jab nicely. Lozano moves forwards but Rojas connects with a nice, crisp jab. Rojas scores with a jab.
Lozano is rocked! Lozano with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Rojas to score with a decent uppercut. Oh Lozano is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Lozano throws a big shot that misses. Lozano throws a big shot that misses. Lozano throws a wild hook but Rojas just manages to duck under it and - ooooh! Lozano gets nailed by a brutal uppercut which crumples him back against the cage! The referee jumps in - Rojas raises his hands in celebration and walks away!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Matheo Rojas! Matheo Rojas gave a mention to Kato in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
