Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Darko Milicic (ranked 2008 p4p, 248 weight class) and Jesse Kotkaniemi (ranked 1634 p4p, 211 weight class). Milicic comes to the cage accompanied by THCF - GDE SI POŠ'O. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Jesse Kotkaniemi enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Darko Milicic! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jesse Kotkaniemi! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Alan Glass and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kotkaniemi shoots in but no luck this time. Kotkaniemi has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Milicic is landing a low percentage of strikes. Kotkaniemi shoots in for a takedown but Milicic shows good takedown defense. It looked like Milicic was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Kotkaniemi decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Kotkaniemi throwing shots but Milicic is blocking nicely. Kotkaniemi thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Milicic's head. Milicic knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kotkaniemi on the ground. Milicic is refusing to be controlled, as Kotkaniemi sits in half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kotkaniemi manages to hold on to the position though. Kotkaniemi lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Milicic down.

Kotkaniemi remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Milicic wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Kotkaniemi landing strikes from the mount. Kotkaniemi takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Kotkaniemi postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Milicic looks a forlorn figure.
