PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Cyber Bully (ranked 2367 p4p, 268 weight class) and Jorginho Marcelo (ranked 1220 p4p, 150 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cyber Bully!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jorginho Marcelo!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Wesley Smith and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A chopping leg kick lands by Bully.
Bully lands an overhand right.
Bully has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Bully thumps Marcelo with a low kick.
Marcelo shoots in for a takedown but Bully shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Bully throws a right hand that Marcelo ducks under and follows up with a left that Marcelo also avoids with ease.
Marcelo shoots in and drives through. Bully sprawls well.
Bully lands a jab.
Bully comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Bully.
Jorginho Marcelo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Marcelo gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Bully scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Marcelo shoots in but no luck this time.
Cyber Bully has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jorginho Marcelo.
Bully stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Marcelo tries to clinch up but Bully circles away and keeps his distance.
Marcelo slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Marcelo throws a big shot that misses.
Bully throws a leg kick but Marcelo sees it coming and moves out of range.

Bully connects with an inside leg kick.

Marcelo has managed to clinch.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Bully.

Marcelo gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Bully regains guard.
Marcelo wants to pass the guard but Bully is keeping the position.
Marcelo controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Marcelo wants to control from the top but Bully keeps moving.
Marcelo slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Bully is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Bully gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Marcelo seems to be looking for submissions.

Marcelo looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Bully trying to control here.

Marcelo is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Bully defends it well.

Bully trying to control from the bottom.
Marcelo wants to control but Bully is keeping him busy.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Marcelo is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Bully is just riding it out for now. Marcelo eventually gives up the hold.

Marcelo wants to work for an arm triangle but Bully is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Marcelo tries to pass to full mount but Bully defends it.
Bully tries to roll over but Marcelo keeps him under control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Bully makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Bully.
Bully is trying to control the position but Marcelo postures up.

Bully looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Marcelo wants to control from the top but Bully keeps moving.
Bully is trying to keep Marcelo in close.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Marcelo throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Bully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cyber Bully dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Bully throws a quick inside leg kick.
Bully works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

Marcelo feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Bully can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Marcelo controls the pace.

Bully looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Marcelo is fighting to break Bully's control of his arms but Bully is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Marcelo not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Marcelo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bully swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Bully had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Marcelo defends it easily.
Marcelo wants to control from the top but Bully keeps moving.

Bully is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Marcelo is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

My spies in Gym inform me that Marcelo has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Bully is trying to maintain the position but Marcelo is very close to passing his half guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Marcelo wants to pass to mount but Bully is defending the position.

Marcelo is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Bully misses with an attempted mid kick.
Marcelo doesn't manage to clinch there - Bully circles away.

Marcelo gets through Bully's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Marcelo swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Marcelo struggles to land a body shot inside as Bully controls his hands.

Marcelo has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Bully uses from the top position.

Bully trying to control the position from guard on top but Marcelo is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Marcelo holds on and takes a little breather.
Bully working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Marcelo's head.
Marcelo is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Bully stuffs the takedown.
It looked like Bully wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Jorginho Marcelo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Bully takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Bully with a body punch. A glancing blow.

Bully manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Marcelo on his heels. He'll look to pass Marcelo's guard now, I'm sure.
Marcelo is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Bully has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Marcelo has control of Bully's left arm, preventing Bully from doing any damage.

Marcelo swings wildly with an uppercut but Bully uses good head movement to avoid it.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Marcelo is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Bully knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Marcelo is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Jorginho Marcelo comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Marcelo has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
