Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John McGee! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kelly Knobson! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Robert Douchet and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Knobson swats away the attempt to clinch by McGee. Knobson swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Knobson misses with an uppercut. McGee throws a nice looking combination but Knobson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. McGee drops Knobson with a left and a right! Oh, Knobson is hurt - McGee dives into side control looking to finish!
It looks like Kelly Knobson has been cut. Knobson is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but McGee has just dragged him back down to the mat. Knobson is looking for a sweep. Knobson wants to get back to his feet. McGee has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. McGee moves into the clinch successfully.
McGee is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. McGee has hold of one of Knobson's legs. Knobson is fighting the takedown attempt but McGee gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Knobson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. McGee wanted to stand there but Knobson had control of the position. McGee stops Knobson from standing up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Knobson is trying to control the position but McGee postures up. McGee wants to stand but Knobson has a closed guard, so he can't escape. McGee is breathing heavily. Knobson has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes McGee off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Knobson avoids the body shot from McGee.
McGee misses with a few strikes there.
Knobson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. McGee misses with the combination.
McGee moves forwards but Knobson connects with a nice, crisp jab. Knobson tries to clinch but McGee moves out of range. Knobson slips a jab and a cross from McGee.
McGee pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Knobson clinches up against the cage. Knobson is trying to break free. Knobson lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of McGee backwards. Knobson wants to break free but McGee has control.
Knobson wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Knobson breaks the clinch.
McGee throws a lazy right hand but Knobson sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Knobson fails to land with a series of punches.
Knobson wants to clinch but McGee slips to the side and McGee counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by McGee. McGee keeps control of Knobson as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McGee is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Knobson pulls him back up using the underhooks. Knobson prevents a body shot from McGee. McGee breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
McGee gets a clinch. McGee escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
McGee fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Knobson, pushing him back against the cage. McGee escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Knobson tries to keep at a distance but McGee has taken the fight into the clinch. Knobson wants to break free but McGee has control.
McGee breaks the clinch.
McGee misses with a jab, cross combination.
McGee fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Knobson, pushing him back against the cage. McGee breaks from the clinch.
Knobson closes the distance looking to clinch and McGee counters with a beautiful punch that sends Knobson to the canvas!
Knobson is rocked! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. McGee works over Knobson with some ground and pound from guard. Knobson is still in real trouble! Can McGee finish him? McGee drops back looking for a leg! Knobson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Knobson manages to kick McGee off! McGee jumps back into Knobson's guard. Knobson wants to stand but McGee is controlling the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McGee postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. McGee working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. McGee postures up.
McGee scores with a decent looking elbow strike. McGee postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. McGee won't allow Knobson to get back to his feet. McGee pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Knobson is keeping the position for now. McGee stands and steps away. Knobson gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Knobson seems to have recovered his senses. Knobson scores with a jab to the head.
Knobson misses with a two punch combination.
Knobson moves into the clinch successfully.
Knobson lands a body punch in the clinch. Knobson lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Knobson wants to break free but McGee has control.
Knobson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Knobson throws a right and a left that McGee avoids nicely. McGee keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
That's four minutes gone in the round. McGee gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Knobson throws out a powerful jab. Knobson is looking to clinch. McGee clinches up against the cage. McGee breaks from the clinch.
McGee tries to clinch there but Knobson circles away.
Knobson closes the distance and lands a one-two. McGee is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Knobson throws a hook but McGee blocks it. McGee will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
McGee throws a head kick that misses. Knobson goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage! Knobson blocks a low kick nicely. McGee lands with a right that hurts Knobson. Knobson looks to clinch but McGee throws a short knee that drops Knobson. This one is all over!
