Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kazuma Akiyama! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Truecw Truew! The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Taro Takaoka and Shigeki Fujiwara.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The fight stays on the outside here - Truew looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Truew gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Akiyama being controlled against the cage. Akiyama tries to pull guard but Truew forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Akiyama has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Truew avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Truew stops a takedown attempt from Akiyama.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kazuma Akiyama. That's going to take a lot out of him. Akiyama is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Truew pulls him back up using the underhooks. Truew breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Truew stuffs the takedown attempt from Akiyama. Akiyama gets slowly back to his feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Truew shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Akiyama manages to get to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Akiyama looking for a guillotine here but Truew defends easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Truew got a little sloppy there for a moment and Akiyama has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Truew has managed to get both his arms back between Akiyama's legs - danger averted. Akiyama looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Akiyama escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Truew gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Akiyama keeping moving, preventing Truew from controlling successfully. Truew wants to stand but Akiyama has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Akiyama lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Akiyama landing some decent shots from guard. Truew has momentary wrist control but Akiyama slips an elbow through the middle. Truew is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Akiyama is controlling him. Akiyama working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Akiyama has gone for a leg lock! Truew slips out almost immediately though and dives into Akiyama's guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Akiyama lands an upkick as Truew stands over him. Akiyama pushes a forearm under Truew's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Truew is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Kazuma Akiyama! In his post fight interview, Kazuma Akiyama started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
