The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sloppy strikes from Esparta. Those never looked like landing.

Esparta darts in and clinches Madison up against the cage.
Esparta using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Madison has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Esparta breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Esparta gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Esparta digs a right hand into Madison's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Madison's gas tank.

Esparta escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Madison shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Esparta defends it nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Waterloo Madison. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Esparta manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Madison on his heels. He'll look to pass Madison's guard now, I'm sure.
Esparta really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Madison. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
